The Figure in the Flame
She walked through the dusk
and became it.
Lines curved around her,
colors lit the path ahead.
She is there, if you know how to look.

Exhibit No. 010 — The Figure in the Flame
Boujad Region, Middle Atlas, Morocco, Contemporary
Curator’s Note
This is a rug of movement and form. The central silhouette suggests a feminine figure—abstract but unmistakably alive. A dancer, a vessel, a flame. Its palette moves through terracotta, pomegranate, lavender, saffron, and black—layered like an atmosphere in motion. A visual poem, handwoven in wool.
As with all handwoven Boujad rugs, this piece will increase in value over time as color, texture, and story deepen with age.
